ROBERT PLANT: FRED DURST And WES SCANTLIN "Smothered" ZEPPELIN Classic
June 14, 2002Former LED ZEPPELIN frontman Robert Plant has accused LIMP BIZKIT and PUDDLE OF MUDD of "smothering" the ZEPPELIN classic "Thank You" after Fred Durst and Wes Scantlin teamed up with Jimmy Page to cover the song at the European Music Awards earlier this year, according to Worldpop.
In an exclusive chat with Worldpop, Plant declared, "LIMP BIZKIT smothered 'Thank You', not covered it. The musical content is all different."
When asked by Worldpop if he though LED ZEPPELIN had influenced nu-metal, Plant said, "No, not at all. I think that they take it all from BLACK SABBATH. ZEPPELIN still lives because of the songs and because of the musicianship. ZEPPELIN were strong and powerful. The difference was they we were good songwriters. If nu-metal bands think that they are influenced by it, then fair enough."
